12 rules for life

  1. Always do the right thing, even if it’s uncomfortable.
  2. Try to breathe through your nose, not through your mouth.
  3. Get enough sleep, but not too much.
  4. Eat real food that makes you feel good.
  5. Develop an internal sense of self-worth.
  6. Be actively engaged in whatever you’re doing.
  7. If your pants have belt loops, you need to wear a belt with them (or suspenders). Yes, this includes jeans.
  8. Clean up after yourself, more than you think is necessary.
  9. Be surprisable.
  10. If you love something, it should hurt at least a little bit. Sometimes it should hurt a lot.
  11. Never, ever, ever forget to unload a package of butter from your car after grocery shopping on a hot summer day.
  12. Have fun, but try to have fun while doing something else as opposed to fun for fun’s sake.
